International Recording Artist and KWON Radio News Personality Tom Davis Lands Major Role in Faith-Based Western The Last Shot Following Appearance in Feature Film The Last Rodeo
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — International recording artist, award-winning songwriter, actor, and KWON Radio news personality Tom Davis has been cast in the major role of Marshal Festus in the upcoming feature film The Last Shot, a faith-based Western drama currently in pre-production by Sparkle N' Spunk Media.
The casting announcement comes on the heels of Davis' appearance in the family feature film The Last Rodeo, where he shares the screen with acclaimed actors Neal McDonough, Mykelti Williamson, and Christopher McDonald. The film, directed by Jon Avnet, known for Fried Green Tomatoes and Justified, follows former professional bull rider Joe Cartwright as he returns to competition for one final ride while facing family challenges and personal redemption. Davis appears throughout the film in the role of a retired rodeo man.
Now, Davis is stepping into one of his most significant acting roles to date as Marshal Festus in The Last Shot. Following a competitive audition process, director and producer Chuck Peters personally selected Davis for the role.
In an official casting letter, Peters praised Davis' audition, writing, "We were impressed not only by your acting ability, but also by the heart, professionalism, and presence you brought to the character. We believe you have the qualities we are looking for to bring Marshal Festus to life and serve as a strong mentor figure within the story."
Written by Chuck Peters and Tiana Pedersen and directed by Peters, The Last Shot tells the story of Deputy Chikaskia "Chuck" Walker, a troubled Old West lawman struggling to overcome his past while confronting violence, lawlessness, and his own search for redemption. Marshal Festus serves as a guiding influence within the story, helping shape the journey of faith and transformation that lies at the heart of the film.
The movie is inspired by Peters' own remarkable true story. In 2020, Peters was accidentally shot during a live Old West reenactment and nearly lost his life. The experience ultimately led him through a profound journey of recovery, healing, and spiritual renewal that became the inspiration for The Last Shot.
Davis said he was immediately drawn to the project's message.
"The Last Shot is much more than a Western," Davis said. "It's a story about faith, redemption, second chances, and finding purpose through adversity. I'm honored to portray Marshal Festus and be part of a film that delivers such a powerful message of hope."
Production on The Last Shot is scheduled to begin with principal photography in July and August 2026 in Udall, Kansas, and locations throughout Missouri. A second phase of filming is planned for July 2027, with the completed feature expected to be released through faith-based and independent film distribution channels later that year.
Known primarily as an internationally recognized recording artist and songwriter, Davis has earned multiple honors from the International Red Carpet Music Awards and continues to perform nationally both as a solo artist and as a member of the award-winning trio The Suns of Beaches. His growing presence in film represents a natural extension of his storytelling abilities as both a musician and performer.
With appearances in The Last Rodeo and a major featured role in The Last Shot, Davis continues to expand his artistic career while bringing authentic, faith-centered characters to audiences on screen.
